Job Description

Role: COBOL Mainframe Programmer/Developer (Onsite in Metro Atlanta)





Key Responsibilities:
- Translate analysis and design documents into well-structured COBOL programs.
- Maintain, enhance, and troubleshoot custom-developed mainframe software (user screens, batch processing, reports, queries, menus).
- Review and analyze existing code, data, and business processes for non-database functions.
- Test program changes, update test files, review results, and validate program correctness.
- Identify and correct data errors via application logic; develop data analysis/summary reports using IBM and Microsoft tools.
- Assist in converting COBOL applications to web-based platforms.
- Prepare program-level and user-level documentation.
- Enhance software to improve efficiency and reduce operating time.
- Follow organizational guidelines for code management and deployment.
- Communicate changes and obtain user sign-off before production releases.



Required Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years of COBOL mainframe development, JCL development/maintenance.
- Proven experience with COBOL, DB2, JCL, Control-M.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Postgres DB, Kofax, and Java programming.
- Strong understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC).
- Ability to troubleshoot, test, and debug software.
- Strong analytical skills for data correction and reporting.
- Comprehensive documentation skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work onsite in Atlanta for the entire duration of the assignment.



Work Environment:
- Onsite work required (no remote option).
- Must be able to start within 2 weeks of selection.
