MEMCO is immediately hiring Firewatchers in Massillon, Ohio and surrounding areas!

Schedule: M-F 7a-5:30p

Pay: $18-$20/hr

Job Overview

We are seeking reliable Firewatchers to monitor active work areas and ensure a safe environment during hot work activities such as welding, cutting, and grinding. The Firewatch will be responsible for identifying fire hazards, maintaining constant vigilance, and responding immediately to any signs of smoke, sparks, or unsafe conditions.

Responsibilities

• Monitor designated hot work areas for potential fire hazards
• Maintain continuous attention during all hot work operations
• Inspect the worksite before, during, and after hot work
• Immediately communicate or respond to any sign of smoke, sparks, or ignition
• Ensure proper placement and readiness of fire extinguishers and fire-prevention equipment
• Follow all company, OSHA, and site-specific safety protocols
• Document observations and report unsafe conditions to supervisors
• Remain on site for the required Firewatch period after hot work is complete

Requirements

• MUST be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
• Previous Firewatch or construction safety experience preferred
• At least 1 year of commercial construction experience
• Ability to remain alert and focused for extended periods
• Knowledge of basic fire-prevention practices and extinguisher use
• Strong communication skills and ability to follow safety procedures
• Must be able to stand/walk for long periods and work in various weather conditions
• Valid OSHA-10 or Firewatch certification (preferred, not required depending on site)
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Steel toes and full PPE is required
