Full-Time Parts Counterperson

Location: Capital City Nissan of Topeka Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours per week (Monday - Friday with rotating Saturdays)

Job Summary:

Capital City Nissan of Topeka is seeking a Full-Time Parts Counterperson to join our growing team. This position plays a crucial role in supporting our technicians, retail customers, and wholesale accounts by providing the right parts at the right time. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

This position includes an hourly base pay plus a technician proficiency bonus , providing an opportunity to increase earnings based on shop performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service & Sales:

  • Assist retail customers, service technicians, and wholesale clients with parts selection and inquiries.

  • Provide accurate price quotes and offer recommendations for additional or related parts.

  • Process orders efficiently through phone, online, and in-person interactions.

  • Handle customer concerns professionally, ensuring a high level of service satisfaction.

Parts Counter Operations:

  • Take and fulfill orders from service technicians, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

  • Manage special-order parts, notifying technicians and customers when they arrive.

  • Process payments and invoices for parts transactions.

  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of parts inventory and availability.

Inventory Management & Merchandising:

  • Verify incoming shipments, inspect parts, and stock shelves according to inventory needs.

  • Conduct periodic inventory counts to reconcile stock discrepancies.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked parts department.

  • Assist with warranty part returns and core returns following manufacturer guidelines.

General Expectations:

  • Work collaboratively with the Parts Manager and Service Team to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.

  • Adhere to all company policies, safety regulations, and professional dress code.

  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Previous experience in an automotive parts department preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of automotive components and terminology.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret parts catalogs and technical information.

  • Proficiency in inventory management tools and dealership software (experience with Dealertrack/Xtime is a plus).

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 80 lbs regularly.

  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach throughout the workday.

  • Comfortable working in a shop environment with fluctuating temperatures.
