Job Summary: Implements patient care activities under the direction of the registered nurse. Essential Responsibilities: + Obtains, records, and reports vital signs on patients as directed. + Documents data collected per standards. + Collects and reports data to RN for development of plans for meeting patient/family needs. + Implements and documents safe, therapeutic, and efficient care as directed by RN. + Supports appropriate priorities for patient care. + Anticipates need for emotional support. + Supports the psychological, social, spiritual, and cultural needs of the patient and family. + Takes preventative measures in giving patient care: Protects skin and mucous membranes. Protects patients from falls or other contact injuries. Uses positioning and/or exercise to prevent injury or the complications of immobility. Removes/reports environmental hazards in the patient care area. Implements interventions appropriate to specific age groups and developmental status of patients. + Encourages patient/family to participate in treatments as directed. + Provides transport to and from nursing units. + Observes, records, and reports patient/family response to nursing care. + Maintains call light within patients reach and uses designated communication mechanism for patients with impaired hearing, speaking skills, or language barriers. Grade: 160 Basic Qualifications: Experience + Must be a NA or student with one semester in clinical setting or six months experience as an Nurse Assistant. Education + High School Diploma or equivalent required. License, Certification, Registration + Basic Life Support Additional Requirements: + Must have experience in bedside nursing. + Good oral and written communication skills, including legible handwriting. + Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams required.
