Job Responsibilities:
To support the Controller and CFO in carrying out the responsibilities of the Finance / Accounting Department and relieve the existing staff of certain responsibilities so that they can work on other projects.
Primary Duties
Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial statement reporting.
Prepare and analyze account reconciliations.
Maintain the Fixed Asset and associated depreciation schedules
Provide monthly detail to the Senior Accountant for General Journal entries
Ensure proper recording of new purchases and disposals.
Coordinate with Accounts Payable for check processing and entry to ensure accuracy.
Assist Senior Accountant with payroll system and payroll related items.
Assist the Senior Accountant with all tax compliance and required report preparation.
Assist the Senior Accountant in tracking and maintaining company insurance policies.
Perform such other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time – quite often on short notice - by the Senior Accountant.
Education and Skills
A Bachelors degree in accounting, or a Bachelors degree in business with emphasis in accounting, is preferred (Associates degree will be considered).
Must be highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data.
Must be highly skilled in use of Excel Spreadsheets and in use of MS Word
Good writing skills are needed in order to handle the occasional administrative needs of the department.
Must have very good verbal skills.
Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures.
Desire to become a CPA is preferred.
