Reports to : Dental Practice Manager 
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt 
Locations: This role will work in our Brick and Monroe NJ practice locations.

Position Summary   
We are seeking a skilled Surgical Assistant to join our dynamic team at Smart Arches Dental Implant Center. This role involves supporting the surgical team in all aspects of implant procedures, including All-on-X (AOX) surgeries. The ideal candidate must be proficient in taking dental x-rays and comfortable with a digital workflow environment, utilizing advanced tools such as intraoral scanners and CBCT imaging. Prior experience with AOX surgeries is highly preferred. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can handle patient care, sterilization, and preparation of surgical instruments, while ensuring a seamless and efficient surgical process. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Patient Preparation: Prepare treatment rooms for surgeries by sterilizing equipment and ensuring all necessary instruments and materials are ready. 
  • Assisting Dentists: Assist dentists and oral surgeons during dental procedures, surgeries, and examinations. 
  • Patient Comfort : Ensure patients are comfortable, address their concerns, and provide support during procedures. 
  • Instrument Sterilization: Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment, following established infection control protocols. 
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate patient records and treatment notes in compliance with regulatory requirements. 
  • Supply Management: Monitor and replenish surgical supplies and maintain inventory levels. 
  • Radiography: Take and develop dental X-rays as directed by the dentist. 
  • Infection Control: Adhere to strict infection control policies and maintain a clean and sterile environment in the dental office. 
  • Patient Education: Educate patients on post-operative care and oral hygiene as directed by the dentist. 
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required 
  • Licensed to take dental x-rays in the state of employment required 
  • CPR/BLS certification required 
  • Active NJ RDA license preferred
  • Previous experience in surgical assisting, especially in dental implant procedures (AOX) strongly preferred. 
  • Familiarity with digital workflow and imaging technology (CBCT, intraoral scanners) 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the surgical and restorative teams 
  • Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to maintaining a sterile and safe environment 
  • Strong knowledge of infection control and sterilization procedures. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal Skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced dental environment.

The employee may need to travel to healthcare practices.
