The Cardiology Unit Secretary will assist the cardiology suite in patient discharges in relation to scheduling all appointments/procedures in EPM or Siemens syngo workflow that are ordered by the cardiologist (follow appointments, echoes, stress, vascular, labs, etc.). This position will also assist the cardiology unit secretary (within the pod) by performing batch faxes, collecting incoming faxes, and assisting with scheduling hospital procedures. Incoming faxes may include, but not limited to 3rd party vendors including Biotel, Preventice, hospital reports, etc.

This position is face to face contact with patients and staff to ensure accurate scheduling and communication between the cardiology pod and the unit secretary.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Collects data from patient charts to complete forms, prior authorizations and schedule appointments as needed
• Documents and reports the information and data collected in a retrievable understandable and readable format
• Putting together with charts
• Prior Authorization
• Faxing/scanning
• Documents information acquired and services implemented in the patient health record
• Communicates openly with patients, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals regarding patient care
• Uses effective professional communication skills and tools to acquire and disseminate relevant information to patients, caregivers, and health care providers across the continuum of care
• Perform batch faxes
• Collecting incoming faxes
• Assisting with Scheduling Hospital Procedures

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
• 1+ years of customer service experience in an office setting
• Intermediate level of computer proficiency
• Ability to work 8-hour days Monday-Friday between the hours of 9:00am - 5:00pm

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in a medical/healthcare setting
• Knowledge of medical terminology

New York Residents Only: The salary range for New York residents is $16.00 to $28.27 per hour.
